Clinical Supervision
Supervision that develops the clinician and the person.
Our Approach
At Sonder Psychotherapy, we believe that the quality of supervision an associate clinician receives during their early career is one of the most formative — and consequential — investments in their professional development. We take that responsibility seriously.
Our approach to supervision mirrors our approach to therapy: collaborative, curiosity-driven, and deeply attentive to the whole person. We don't just review cases. We create a space where you can slow down, reflect honestly, bring your questions and your uncertainty, and grow into the clinician you are becoming — at a pace that honors where you are right now.
Who We Supervise
Sonder Psychotherapy offers clinical supervision for associate level clinicians working toward full licensure in Washington State, including:
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associates (LMHCA)
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associates (LICSWA)
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associates (LMFTA)
If you are an associate clinician looking for a supervision experience that is thoughtful, affirming, and grounded in strong clinical values, we would love to connect with you.
Our supervision philosophy
We know the best clinicians are those who have been truly seen and supported themselves.
We believe the supervisory relationship is itself a therapeutic relationship — one that models the very values we ask our clinicians to bring into the room with clients. That means showing up with empathy, honesty, and genuine investment in your growth. It means creating a space where it is safe to not have all the answers, to sit with uncertainty, and to make mistakes without shame. It means seeing you — not just your caseload.
We are particularly committed to providing supervision that is trauma-informed, culturally affirming, and attentive to the ways that identity, power, and lived experience shape both the clinical relationship and the supervisory one.
“The degree to which I can create relationships which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.”

Merrill brings over 20 years of experience in the mental health field to their role as a Clinical Supervisor at Sonder Psychotherapy. With a Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science, she has spent two decades developing a rich, integrative clinical practice — and an equally thoughtful approach to supporting the next generation of mental health professionals.
As a supervisor, Merrill draws on the same values that guide her clinical work: collaboration, curiosity, and a genuine belief in the capacity of every person to grow. She understands the path to licensure is about far more than accumulating hours — it is a profound professional and personal formation. Her supervision style is warm and direct, creating a space where supervisees feel safe enough to be honest about their struggles and challenged enough to keep stretching.
Clinically, Merrill specializes in family systems, somatic therapies, and trauma-focused treatment, and brings particular expertise in relational dynamics, attachment, and the mind-body connection. Her work spans individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, and includes specialized experience in areas that are often overlooked in traditional training — including twin dynamics and the unique relational patterns that shape family systems in ways that aren't always visible on the surface.
Supervisees working with Merrill can expect a consistent, continuous relationship built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to doing this work with integrity. She is not just invested in your licensure — she is invested in the clinician and person you are becoming.

One-on-one supervision provides dedicated, personalized time to review your caseload, process challenging clinical material, and receive focused guidance tailored to your specific developmental needs and goals. It allows enough time and space where nothing has to be minimized or rushed — where you can bring the cases that keep you up at night and the questions you're not sure you're supposed to ask. -
$200 per hour, divided by 2-4 participants
Group supervision offers the unique opportunity to learn alongside peers who are navigating similar challenges and milestones. It broadens your clinical perspective, builds community, and creates a space for the kind of honest, collegial conversation that makes better clinicians. At Sonder Psychotherapy, group supervision is structured to be as supportive as it is challenging — a place where every voice is valued and every question is worth exploring.
